I was going to blog about last weekend.Last weekend but never got to it. So here is a quick snip about it.
Sunday Sarah and I spent the day with her horse. It was a beautiful day. Sun was out and shinning, nice cool breeze. It’s nice to sit under the pecan trees and watch her and Mango ride. Mango is her line back dun quarter horse that she got as a Christmas gift from a friend. Mango is turning out to be a good little barrel horse. Sarah still has a lot of work to go with her but there is a good future with her. I will post photos one day when I learn how to. Makes you proud to watch your daughter ride her horse knowing that is what makes her happier then anything else in the world. She and Mango have a connection that only the two of them know. Not saying it’s always a good one, but they love each other. When Sarah goes out to the pasture ,watching Mango run up to her knowing Sarah has a little peppermint treat. When they have a nice relaxed ride in the pecan grove it just puts a smile on a proud moms face. After the ride and brushing her horse was over. George, Nicholas, and his girlfriend drove up and we went out to eat with some friends for our Valentines day dinner. Was lots of fun and great food. Had some guilt cheating on my diet but was worth it. I have lost 25 lbs in the last 6 weeks.
Now on to this weekend. We had Sarah and Nicholas’ 14th birthday party today. Had a great time at the park. Was a little chilly but didn’t slow any of the kids down. Nicholas has been begging us for a dirt bike for ages. We promised him one and found a great deal on one yesterday. Talking about cutting it close. He was so surprised he got it. He had no idea he was even going to get one on his birthday. That’s all the kids did for 3 hours was take turns riding it around Spring Creek Park. Sarah got her gift last week. She got a new barrel saddle, bridle, tie down, chest collar, and halter made just for her. All of them in black and red. The colors she wants for her show colors.
It’s a great feeling to make your kids happy. I’m not saying buying them things like that is what makes them happy, but we are not always able to do that. It’s fun to splurge on the kids they disserve it. too. As a mom and like any mom knows it warms your heart to put a smile on your child’s face. Especially that last couple of years since life has been hard on all of us.
We grilled hamburgers and hotdogs. Okay okay not we but my wonderful hubby who can grill food like there is no tomorrow. With about 25 of us there and mostly teen boys I’m glad we thought we bought too much food. There was almost nothing left over. Boys are bottomless pits. Just when you think they are done eating the come back for more. Where do they put it all?
As March approaches life gets busier then ever with another season of Swamp Gravy. There are shows every Thursday, Friday, and 2 on Saturday. Check it out on the net www.swampgravy.com It’s great to be a part of it. Sarah, George and myself act in it. Nicholas and Scott run spot lights. Nice to have just about the whole family in it. Now if we can only convince Phillip to join us. He loves his weekends with his friends. Don’t think he will ever want to, but we wont give up him.
Lori don’t give up on us. Keeping making those early Sunday morning calls. One day we will get there. Great to have friends that don’t give up on you getting back to church.
Maybe by my next blog I will learn how post photos. I know its easy. This is me we are talking about. I’m lucky enough to even get my words on the blog screen much less try to learn to post photos. I know when I do learn I will blog and say “Are you kidding me it’s that easy”. So when that blog shows up look for the photos.
